Shullsburg’s teamed up with agencies and programs throughout Southwest Wisconsin to provide its business community with the very best assistance available. Lafayette Development Corporation:
Shullsburg is proud to sponsor the Lafayette Development Corporation, Lafayette County’s one-stop shop for anyone with questions about starting, strengthening or expanding a business. LDC has a wealth of information that can help you and your business, and offers a variety of outreach services to assist local businesses and communities alike.
Small Business Development Center:
The Southwest Wisconsin Small Business Development Center, headquartered in Platteville, provides low-cost training and no-cost counseling to entrepreneurs and small business owners and managers located in Shullsburg and throughout Lafayette County. It's mission is to facilitate economic growth in Wisconsin by providing low-cost training and no-cost programming to the local small business community.
Small Business Administration:
The U.S. Government's Small Business Administration, with local offices in Madison, Wisconsin, offers a wealth of information for those starting or operating a small business. In addition to counseling and training resources, the SBA can also provide business startup kits and information on financing your business startup or expansion.
Southwest Wisconsin Job Center:
With local offices in Darlington, the SW Job Center offers employers assistance with every dimension of locating, interviewing and retaining your workforce, whether large or small. The Job Center also has information on wage subsidy and tax incentive programs that will make the hiring of your employees as affordable as possible.
Southwest Wisconsin Technical College - Business and Industry Training Services (BITS):
Located in Fennimore, on the campus of the Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, the Business and Industry Training Services (BITS) Office provides your employees with on-site customized training session that are designed to meet the specific individual needs of your business. BITS also provides career development, training needs assessments, job-task analysis, and the setting up of work place education centers.
Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development:
The State's Department of Workforce Development, located in Madison, provides not just assistance with the hiring of employees, but also a library of resources on employment regulations, employee rights, employee training and a variety of other issues affecting workforce development. Much of the information available through this department is a "must-read" for every employer - new or old.
Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Association (WHEDA):
Located in Madison, WHEDA offers financial assistance to small business and agricultural enterprises, in the form of loan guarantees and loan subsidies.
Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corporation (WWBIC):
The WWBIC is an economic development corporation providing quality business education, technical assistance and access to capital for entrepreneurs. Established in 1989, WWBIC consults, educates and mentors owners of small and micro businesses throughout Wisconsin. We concentrate our efforts with women, people of color and those of lower incomes.
