 The City of Shullsburg, WI is seeking a professional to fulfill the statutory requirements of Clerk/Treasurer.  Duties include, but are not limited to, election administration;  creation of meeting agendas and minutes;  licensing and permitting;  open records requests;  financial activities including budgeting, audit preparation, management of all bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable; and tax bill preparation and collection.  Human resource duties include payroll reporting, insurance, and state retirement administration.  The Clerk/Treasurer is a member of the Board of Review. Other functions of the office include, but are not limited to, processing variance, rezoning and conditional use requests and preparation and publication of the   public hearing notices for these requests.

 Qualifications:  A minimum of an Associate Degree in Accounting or Business is required.  Must have working knowledge of business office procedures and equipment, payroll administration, accounts payable and accounts receivable.  Prior municipality work experience is preferred. Knowledge of or experience with Caselle Software and fund accounting is also beneficial. The selected candidate will exercise a high degree of independence, initiative, professional expertise, and sound judgment,  the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public; must have ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, clearly, concisely, and appropriately to inquiries from the public, press and other agencies, both orally and written. The candidate must be able to prioritize, coordinate and schedule multiple assignments;  interpret City Code of Ordinance and codify newly adopted Ordinance as necessary; must have a valid driver’s license; be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; and should be able to lift up to 25 pounds.  Some night work is required as associated with evening meetings. This is considered a full-time position, with benefits, including a generous insurance package and Wisconsin Retirement.
