Laid out over 2,500 acreas of land, the Yellowstone Wildlife Area offers approximately

33 miles of horse and hiking trails, all within 30 minutes of Shullsburg, just north of Fayette,

on Lafayette County Highway D. Trail parking is located near the former Fayette school

building. Each of the trails, which lay adjacent to Yellowstone Lake State Park, offer variation

in length, terrain and views. The trails are open from noon until nightfall, May 1 through May 19,

and then twenty-hours per day from May 20 to October 31. The trails are closed from

November 1 to April 30 each year.
